Playing with SpeedTree and UDK

Written by Cheryl on February 7, 2010 – 6:42 pm

I’m finally braving the 3D realm of game development.  I’ve been having a lot of fun making trees and bushes with SpeedTree.

I made a small terrain map in UDK.

New free game: Ant Wars!

Written by Cheryl on June 25, 2009 – 8:41 am

I added this game to our Free Games section. It was part of a speed game contest. There was a 20MB limit so I had to keep it at 5 levels. Enjoy!

Gathering feedback on our first game…so far so good!

Written by Cheryl on March 27, 2009 – 10:40 pm

I went through all the tutorials and I can understand what the code is doing but I still struggle with coming up with it by myself. There was a thorough but incomplete break out tutorial that my game will be implementing and improving upon.

Another cheesy Christian clone?

Well given that this is my first attempt at a game I have to stick with what I’m familiar with. I’ve replaced much of the art and sound effects and I have improved the interface and added some features as well.

How Christian is it?

It’s a Bible based break out game. Each level is based off a chapter int he Bible and has a nice picture with a verse from that book on it. I hope that people will learn the order of the books as they unlock them. (I know that I’m learning them by making this game)

Given that I feel moved to do this game and have a bigger heart for developers I thought it was only fair to offer God my “first fruits” and make a game to honor Him. With this game under my belt I hope to be able to help other projects and people will see my history and know my intentions are good.

With that said I realize that my game is a clone and not very original but it’s still fun. I intend to have a low price of $3.99 and hope people buy it for it’s game play and not out of pity. 🙂

Here’s some highlights/to do list

The game play is intense, with every brick you break the ball will move faster!

I’m still learning and have to figure out power ups.

I’m working on the options and now have support for multiple resolutions, I’m trying to figure out mouse sensitivity

I realized that the mac build isn’t great with the mouse..gotta figure that out

There will be a high score feature and maybe I can figure out a way to have them post it online. I know there’s support for it but I’m not a coding ace.

The music I have in the game is absolutely beautiful it’s by a an artist that goes by Butterfly Tea, I will be releasing the sound track for the game to give more exposure to this guy

Want to help?

If anyone is interested in beta testing this game and offering me feedback it would be appreciated. I want to make sure this game runs on other computers and is fun for everyone. Please do keep in mind that it is a work in progress.

When this game is complete I’ll need someone to review it. I can’t possibly review my own game, it would be biased

Here’s is a web based way to run it so far
